Beartooth Brownfields

In the summer of 2004, the Beartooth Resource Conservation and Development Area, Inc. received a $200,000 EPA grant to assess the nature and extent of contamination on Brownfields sites in Bighorn, Sweet Grass, Stillwater, Carbon, and Yellowstone counties. The funds can be used to complete assessments on public and private property contaminated with hazardous substances.
The EPA Brownfields program provides funds to help communities unravel environmental uncertainties associated with contaminated property. The EPA's goals under the program are to facilitate redevelopment of property through removal of environmental uncertainties while at the same time restoring the environment and reducing human health risks.
The grant is a two year grant, and there doesn't appear to be a lack of sites to investigate. Beartooth invites you to get involved and become an active participant in the Beartooth Brownfields project.
