For more than 40 years, Beartooth RC&D has provided business technical assistance and community development services in South Central Montana. We know the ins and outs of community and economic development, and our knowledge can make the difference between a successful, well planned project and a costly one.

History

  • 1969 - The RC&D began as a unique partnership with the USDA Natural Resource Conservation Service (NRCS) to serve Carbon and Stillwater Counties

  • 1990 - Added Sweet Grass County to the service area

  • 1991 - Added Yellowstone County to the service area

  • 1993 - Added Big Horn County to the service area

  • 1996 - Montana Department of Commerce designation as a Certified Regional Development Corporation

  • 1996 - Economic Development Administration designation as an Economic Development District

  • 2011 - Moved away from the NRCS model

Methodology

The RC&D is sponsored and directed by local people as a regional vehicle to improve the economic and social conditions through the conservation, utilization and development of the natural and human resources of the area.
